Major Breakthrough: Punjab Police Arrests Mastermind Behind Grenade Attack on BJP Leader Manoranjan Kalia
Chandigarh/Jalandhar, April 12 – In a decisive victory against terrorism, the Punjab Police has arrested Saidul Ameen, the main accused in the grenade attack on BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence. The arrest, facilitated by joint efforts from Central agencies and Delhi Police, underscores Punjab’s unwavering resolve to combat terror as part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s zero-tolerance policy.
Attack Linked to ISI-Sponsored Conspiracy
The grenade explosion, which occurred on the night of April 7, 2025, at Kalia’s residence in Central Town, Jalandhar, has been linked to a larger ISI-backed plot aimed at destabilizing peace in Punjab. According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the incident is part of an orchestrated campaign involving foreign handlers, local logistical support, and financial conduits based in Haryana and Punjab.
Arrest of Saidul Ameen: The Manhunt and Capture
The accused, Saidul Ameen, a resident of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, was tracked down and apprehended in Delhi following an intensive interstate operation. Speaking at a press briefing in Jalandhar, DGP Yadav, flanked by Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, hailed the success as a result of seamless coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies.
“This arrest is a milestone in our fight against terrorism. It shows our commitment to protecting Punjab and the nation from destabilizing forces,” said DGP Yadav.
Key Supporters Already in Custody
The investigation previously led to the arrest of two local accomplices:

These individuals allegedly provided logistical support to Ameen. Their interrogation helped trace the broader network and facilitated Ameen’s capture.
Conspiracy Orchestrated by Gangster-Network Nexus
The attack was masterminded by Zeeshan Akhtar, reportedly a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and ISI-backed gangster Shahzad Bhatti. Authorities are also probing the role of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a Pakistan-based banned terrorist group, for its possible involvement in the planning and financing of the attack.
Financial Trail Leads to Haryana
A new dimension was added to the investigation with the arrest of Abhijot, a Haryana-based operative, by Haryana Police during a shootout in Kurukshetra. He is suspected of financing the grenade operation and will soon be transferred to Punjab Police custody on a production warrant for further interrogation.
“We are now focused on unraveling the financial channels, identifying foreign handlers, and dismantling the remaining network behind this attack,” stated DGP Yadav.

The case has been registered under FIR No. 27, dated 8/4/2025, at Police Station Division No. 3, Jalandhar, under the following charges:
