As the decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, launched under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, entered its 41st day, Punjab Police carried out 409 raids across the state on Monday. The raids targeted identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
The state-wide crackdown was formally launched on January 20, 2026, by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav with the objective of making Punjab a gangster-free state. Punjab Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been conducting special operations as part of the campaign.
In addition, preventive action was taken against 71 persons, while 116 individuals were detained, verified, and later released after questioning. During the operation, police also apprehended four proclaimed offenders (POs).

Citizens have been encouraged to anonymously share information about wanted criminals and gangsters through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
92 Drug Smugglers Held on Day 366 of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug drive, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, on its 366th day. On Monday, police teams arrested 92 drug smugglers and seized 1.2 kg of heroin, 3 kg of opium, 11 kg of poppy husk, 635 intoxicant tablets and capsules, along with ₹4,720 in drug money.
With these latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended under the campaign has risen to 51,856 in just 366 days.
As part of rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 22 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, reinforcing its dual approach of enforcement and recovery in the fight against drugs.
