Punjab Police crack a major heroin network using drone drops; 3 smugglers arrested with weapons and 4.5 kg heroin. Investigation ongoing.

By taking down a cross-border drug smuggling ring, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police ,Punjab Police have made a significant advancement in their efforts to make Punjab a safe and secure state, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. A.30 bore pistol and 4.5 kilograms of heroin were found in the custody of three drug smugglers who were arrested in connection with the trafficking of illicit firearms and heroin. A global drug trafficking network has been made public by this action.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav shared information about the operation, stating that initial inquiries showed the arrested suspect had communicated with a handler based abroad via social media. Following instructions from the handler, the accused were receiving illicit firearms and heroin shipments from various areas and resupplying them locally. He said that more research is being done to determine the network’s forward and backward connections, and more disclosures are anticipated in the days ahead.

Gurvinder Singh alias Gopi (23), a resident of the village of Shahwala in Ferozepur; Tilak alias Shibu (18), a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Vihar, Jalandhar, who is currently residing in Mustafabad, Amritsar; and Daljeet Singh alias Lala (20), a resident of the village of Naushahra Dhalla, who is currently residing in Mustafabad, Amritsar, are the people who were arrested.

In an explanation of the operation, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, stated that Gurvinder Singh, also known as Gopi, was first taken into custody by the police with 1.5 kg of heroin and a.30 bore handgun. Further recoveries resulted from the accused’s admission of his two associates’ involvement during questioning. The police detained Tilak, also known as Shibu, and Daljeet Singh, also known as Lala, after they were nominated based on this disclosure. Three kilograms of heroin were found in their hands.

The CP added that the inquiry showed that accused Gurvinder Singh, also known as Gopi, was actively involved in collecting shipments of cocaine and other illicit goods via drone drops because he lived close to the border in Ferozepur. In order to obtain these shipments, it was also discovered that he had direct communication with a foreign smuggler.

Accordingly, a case has been filed under FIR No. 345 dated 12-12-2025 at Police Station Gate Hakima, Amritsar, in accordance with Sections 21-C and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 25 (6, 7, 8) of the Arms Act. In order to identify the full network and pursue additional legal action, police teams are carrying out a comprehensive investigation.
