Punjab Police busted an ISI-backed grenade attack module in Ludhiana, arresting 10 suspects and seizing a Chinese grenade. Foreign handlers identified; probe continues.

Punjab Police : Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced here  that the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police had arrested ten key members of foreign-based handlers and dismantled a grenade attack module supported by the ISI in Pakistan.

The people that were taken into custody are Sri Muktsar Sahib residents Kuldeep Singh, Shekhar Singh, and Ajay Singh, also known as Ajay. However, due to their roles as couriers and facilitators, Amrik Singh, Parminder alias Chiri, Vijay, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukh Brar, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanveer Singh alias Vicky, and Sajan Kumar alias Sanju have been placed under production warrant from various jails. A Black Kit, a pair of gloves, and an 86P Chinese hand grenade were also found by police teams among the detained suspects.

According to the DGP, preliminary inquiry has shown that the accused coordinated the acquisition and delivery of a hand grenade with handlers headquartered in Pakistan via three Malaysian operators. He claimed that the handlers had given him the assignment to launch a grenade attack in a populated area in order to cause chaos in the state. According to the DGP, more research is being done to determine forward and backward links in this instance.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Ludhiana Swapan Sharma shared operational details, stating that a first information report (FIR) was filed at Police Station Jodhewal against suspects Kuldeep Singh, Shekhar Singh, and Ajay Singh, also known as Ajay, in response to reliable intelligence inputs.

He added that the three suspects were taken into custody by the police teams and that, due to the delicate nature of the situation, special teams were formed under the direction of the DCP (Investigation) and DCP (City) to guarantee prompt and efficient action. According to him, additional research has revealed the overseas masterminds, Jass Behbal, Pawandeep, and Malaysia-based Ajay, also known as Ajay Malaysia. According to him, these people are known to live together overseas and have communication with local middlemen Amrik Singh and Parminder @ Chiri, who had both previously assisted them in drug smuggling.

According to the CP, Vijay, the brother of Ajay (Malaysia), who was detained in Ganganagar Jail in relation to a commercial quantity NDPS Act case, was also arrested on production warrant for his involvement as a facilitator in this case throughout the course of the inquiry. He stated that the investigation also revealed a local network that involved the accused Sukhjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanveer Singh, and Sajan, also known as Sanu, in enabling the hand grenade distribution in Punjab.

Red Corner Notices (RCNs) have been issued against the accused individuals working from overseas, according to CP Swapan Sharma, who also stated that the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been invoked. In the days ahead, there will probably be more arrests and recoveries, he continued. In this respect, a case FIR No. 150, dated 27.10.2025, was filed at Police Station Jodhewal in accordance with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosives Act and Section 113 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
