Punjab Police arrested 94 drug smugglers in 312 raids under CM Bhagwant Mann’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign. Over 43,000 held so far.
In keeping with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to eradicate the drug problem from the state for the 309th day in a row, Punjab Police conducted raids at 312 locations on Sunday, resulting in the arrest of 94 drug smugglers following the filing of 79 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state. As a result, 43,206 narcotics smugglers had been apprehended in 309 days.
During the raids, 1198 intoxicant tablets and capsules, 1.2 kg of opium, 593 grams of heroin, and Rs 11,620 in drug money were found in the possession of drug smugglers who had been detained.
312 raids have been carried out around the state by more than 120 police teams, which consist of more than 1000 police officers, overseen by 71 gazetted officers. During the course of the day-long operation, police teams have also checked up to 320 suspected individuals.
In order to eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged policy called Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). As part of “De-addiction,” the Punjab Police have persuaded 61 people to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
