Punjab Police arrest 86 drug smugglers, seize heroin, opium, and cash in CM Mann’s ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign.

Following 71 first information reports (FIRs) being filed throughout the state, Punjab Police conducted raids at 305 locations on Friday, resulting in the arrest of 86 drug smugglers as part of the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign against drugs, which Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has been waging for the 258th day in a row to eradicate the drug menace from the state. As a result, in just 258 days, 36,550 narcotics smugglers had been apprehended overall.

During the raids, 13.7 kg of heroin, 1 kg of opium, 3.5 kg of poppy husk, 211 intoxicant tablets, and Rs 5.09 lakhs in drug money were found in the possession of drug smugglers who had been detained.

Remarkably, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has requested that the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police declare Punjab a drug-free state. To oversee the fight against narcotics, the Punjabi government has also established a five-member Cabinet Subcommittee, which is chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

Throughout the state, 305 raids have been carried out by more than 100 police teams, which consist of more than 800 police officers, overseen by 58 gazetted officers. Up to 305 suspected individuals have also been inspected by police teams throughout the course of the daylong investigation.

32 people were persuaded to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation therapy today by the Punjab Police as part of the state government’s three-pronged effort to remove narcotics from the state: Enforcement, Drug Abuse, and Prevention (EDP).
