Punjab Police Arrest 113 Drug Smugglers in 319 Raids on Day 304 of Anti-Drug Campaign

Over 1000 officers involved; campaign focuses on Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)

Punjab Police arrest 113 drug smugglers in 319 raids on day 304 of CM Mann’s anti-drug campaign; narcotics seized and 46 people undergo de-addiction.

In keeping with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s  campaign to end the drug problem in the state for the 304th day in a row, Punjab Police raided 319 locations on Tuesday, arresting 113 drug smugglers after registering 82 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state. As a result, there have been 42,480 drug smugglers apprehended in 304 days.

In the possession of the accused drug smugglers, 455 grams of heroin, 25 kg of poppy husk, 1995 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and Rs 54,440 in drug money were found during the raids.

Under the direction of 71 gazetted officers, more than 120 police teams, totaling more than 1000 police officers, have carried out 319 raids around the state. Over the course of the operation, police teams have also screened up to 322 suspects.

In an effort to eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged policy called Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). As part of “De-addiction,” the Punjab Police have persuaded 46 people to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
