Punjab observes Veer Bal Diwas 2025. Governor Kataria honors Sahibzadas’ sacrifice, urges youth to embrace courage, faith, and nation-building.
The state-level Veer Bal Diwas 2025 was commemorated on Friday by the Child Welfare Council Punjab and the District Child Welfare Council in conjunction with the district administration, to honor the supreme sacrifice of the four Sahibzadas—Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, and Sahibzada Fateh Singh—sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Governor of Punjab Gulab Chand Kataria, who presided as the principal guest at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, urged the youth to emulate the extraordinary bravery, steadfast faith, and spirit of sacrifice demonstrated by the Sahibzadas. He characterized their martyrdom as the most profound sacrifice in world history and stated that the highest tribute to their legacy would be for contemporary generations to embody these values in their own lives. He stated that the eternal saga of the Sahibzadas is inscribed in golden inscriptions in history. The Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh opted to be entombed alive within bricks rather than renounce their faith. Their sacrifice remains an enduring source of inspiration for generations to come, encouraging them to make the utmost sacrifice when necessary for the nation, religion, and society, the Governor stated. He also emphasized the martyrdom of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and his dedicated disciples Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala Ji, noting that their ultimate sacrifice conveyed an everlasting message of truth, justice, and morality to humanity.

She advised parents against exerting undue pressure on children regarding academic rankings and emphasized the importance of safeguarding their infancy. Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr. Pragati Verma discussed several welfare initiatives implemented by the district administration, including Children’s Homes, Schools for Deaf and Mute Children, Early Intervention Centres, and the SPICE Cafe.
