Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh Inspects Aam Aadmi Clinics and Civil Hospital Rajpura to Ensure Quality Healthcare
Chandigarh/Patiala, April 24, 2025 – In a bid to reinforce the Punjab government’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh conducted surprise inspections at the Aam Aadmi Clinic in Urban Estate, Patiala, and the Civil Hospital in Rajpura. The visits aimed to assess the facilities, gather patient feedback, and ensure that the standards set by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administration are being met.
Aam Aadmi Clinics: A Model of Accessible Healthcare
During his visit to the Aam Aadmi Clinic in Urban Estate, Patiala, Dr. Singh interacted with patients to understand their experiences. The clinic, part of the state’s initiative to offer free healthcare services, provides 80 types of medicines and 38 types of diagnostic tests at no cost. These services have significantly reduced the financial burden on residents seeking medical attention.
Dr. Singh noted that the clinic serves approximately 90-95 patients daily, reflecting the growing trust in government healthcare facilities. “The Aam Aadmi Clinics are transforming Punjab’s healthcare system. Our aim is to ensure that every citizen receives timely, efficient, and free medical services without any inconvenience,” he stated.
Civil Hospital Rajpura: Addressing Patient Care and Infrastructure
At the Civil Hospital in Rajpura, Dr. Singh observed the patient flow and identified areas for improvement. Noticing congestion outside the Medicine OPD and Pharmacy, he directed officials to optimize crowd management by deploying nursing and ITI students to assist in better queue systems. Additionally, he assured the provision of additional pharmaceutical officers and support staff to streamline operations.
The Health Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of patient care and ensuring that all facilities function smoothly. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards negligence and warned of strict action against any lapses in service delivery.

Dr. Singh highlighted the need for continuous improvement in healthcare infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the population. He pointed out that 1,80,000 posts are currently vacant in the army, which could impact the overall security and healthcare delivery systems. Filling these vacancies is crucial to safeguard citizens from internal and external threats and to maintain the efficiency of healthcare services.
