Punjab Government disburses ₹693 crore to 6.65 lakh widows & poor women under Social Security Financial Assistance Scheme, promoting empowerment & dignity.

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to promoting social justice and the well-being of all societal segments. Special efforts are being made in this direction to give widows and impoverished women financial help and dignity. A sizeable sum has been made available for their welfare under the Social Security Financial Assistance Scheme as part of these initiatives.

According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development, the Punjab government has so far disbursed 693.04 crore in financial aid to recipients of this program during the current fiscal year.

She added that 6,65,994 widows and impoverished women throughout the state are getting cash assistance through this program. According to Dr. Kaur, the program not only gives women financial stability but also gives them the confidence to actively engage in society at large.

The Mann Government’s objective is to create possibilities for women’s empowerment, not just to provide aid, according to Dr. Baljit Kaur. The government wants to guarantee that all women live honorable lives and become self-sufficient. For this reason, the state government is enhancing and growing social security programs to benefit women.

The Punjab government has already allocated 1170 crore for the care of widows and impoverished women, Dr. Kaur continued. In order to ensure that all qualified beneficiaries receive their payments on time, she gave departmental staff instructions to ensure that the system is implemented transparently and effectively.
