Chandigarh: Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora announced that the state government will soon lay gas pipelines in Ludhiana and Jalandhar as part of the ongoing Punjab gas pipeline project, aimed at strengthening the state’s fuel supply infrastructure.

Speaking at a press conference, Arora clarified that there is no shortage of gas in residential areas and assured citizens that the supply chain remains stable. He noted that the recent disruptions were largely caused by panic buying, with households stocking multiple LPG cylinders at once, creating a temporary artificial shortage.

“The areas already connected under the Punjab gas pipeline project are not facing any disruption. There is no need to panic. Both the state government and the upstream supply chain are maintaining adequate fuel supply,” said Arora.

The minister highlighted that industries dependent on LPG are facing some challenges, while those utilizing natural gas continue to operate smoothly. He reiterated that the government is working diligently to expand the Punjab gas pipeline project across the state, ensuring wider coverage and uninterrupted supply.

“Our objective is to ensure PNG supply at the earliest. The pipeline network has already reached Doraha, and we will soon extend it to Ludhiana and Jalandhar, enhancing the reach of the Punjab gas pipeline project for residential and industrial users,” added Arora.

The expansion of the Punjab gas pipeline project is expected to strengthen energy infrastructure, reduce reliance on cylinders, and provide reliable natural gas supply to both households and industries across the state.
