In another major step under the Punjab Education Revolution, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has announced a significant initiative to expand access to higher education for working professionals, homemakers, and students who are unable to attend regular colleges.
The decision, shared through the AAP Punjab social media platform, aims to make distance education more accessible across the state by establishing Learner Support Centres in government, aided, and private colleges under the Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University.
Learner Support Centres to Be Established Across Punjab
Under the new initiative, all colleges in Punjab have been instructed to set up Learner Support Centres to help students access study materials, counselling, academic guidance, and admission-related support closer to their homes.
The move is being viewed as a people-friendly reform under the Punjab Education Revolution, ensuring that learners from both urban and rural areas can continue their education without the burden of long-distance travel.
Higher Education to Become More Accessible and Flexible
The initiative is expected to especially benefit women, homemakers, and employed individuals who often face challenges in pursuing higher education due to family responsibilities, work schedules, or transportation issues.Officials believe the expansion of distance education facilities under the Punjab Education Revolution will help thousands of aspirants continue their studies in a more flexible and affordable manner.

The Bhagwant Mann Government has consistently highlighted education as one of its top priorities.
