Chandigarh: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has shared comparative data on heroin seizures under different state governments, highlighting what he described as the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s intensified efforts under its Punjab drug crackdown campaign.
The information was shared by Dr. Balbir Singh through his official X account, where he compared heroin seizure figures during the previous Akali-BJP and Congress governments with the last four years of the Mann government.
Mann Government Reports Higher Heroin Seizures
According to the data shared by the minister, heroin seizures during the 10-year Akali-BJP government stood at 2,817 kilograms, while the Congress government recorded seizures of 2,412 kilograms during its five-year tenure.
Dr. Balbir Singh stated that under the Mann government, 6,608 kilograms of heroin have been seized in four years, reflecting the intensified action taken as part of the Punjab drug crackdown.

Anti-Drone System Strengthens Border Security
The Health Minister credited the government’s firm approach and the use of technology, including an anti-drone system, for improving efforts to prevent drug smuggling.

The Punjab government has repeatedly stated that combating drug trafficking and protecting the state’s youth remain among its top priorities.
