Punjab Celebrates Guru Tegh Bahadur 350th Martyrdom Anniversary with Extraordinary Events. Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary is a day of great significance for the state and the Sikh community, according to Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. Addressing the media , he conveyed his appreciation for the chance to celebrate this momentous anniversary and outlined the comprehensive arrangements the Punjab government has made to honor the esteemed Guru’s ultimate sacrifice.

Cheema reported that a series of statewide festivities officially began as the 350th anniversary commemorative Kirtan got underway in Srinagar. He said all of the cabinet members, including Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, had arrived at the location to take part in the festivities. A special session of the Legislative Assembly will also be held by the Punjab government at Anandpur Sahib, a location that is closely linked to Sikh history and the Gurus’ legacy, as part of the three-day event.

The 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom marked the start of the kirtan in Srinagar today. This is where the Nagar Kirtan will begin tomorrow morning. Our National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and the entire cabinet have arrived. The Akhand Path Sahib will be recited on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th of the three-day event. We have chosen to hold the Punjab Legislative Assembly meeting on the hallowed grounds of Anandpur Sahib during this time. I think this is a really significant day, and we are honored to have been tasked with commemorating it,” Cheema said to reporters.

Members of the Punjab Cabinet were present at a “Kirtan Darbar” at Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi in Srinagar, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal also attended. The Punjab government is hosting significant events at Anandpur Sahib to commemorate the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s death, and he invited people from all over the world to attend, Kejriwal remarked during the occasion.

“His supreme martyrdom should be honored and more people should get involved.” Being able to visit such a sacred location makes me feel incredibly privileged. Mann Sahib and I are present to start the Yatra, which will start for Anandpur Sahib tomorrow. Being a part of this makes me feel privileged,” Kejriwal remarked.

Known for his deep spiritual teachings and his ultimate sacrifice to defend religious freedom and human dignity, Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in Amritsar in 1621 to Guru Hargobind and Mata Nanki. The celebrations of his 350th anniversary honor his lasting impact and the principles he defended for the sake of humanity.
