Punjab CM to Review Flood Situation Today

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has convened a high-level meeting on Friday (September 12) to review the flood situation across the state. The meeting comes just after his discharge from the hospital, underlining his commitment to speed up relief and rescue operations.

Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and departmental Secretaries, will attend the meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence. Deputy Commissioners of flood-affected districts will join via video conferencing to present ground-level updates.

According to the government, the meeting will focus on rescue, relief, and rehabilitation measures, including medical facilities, evacuation drives, and compensation for affected families.

Mann’s Commitment to Relief Operations

Speaking ahead of the review, CM Mann said the recent floods had caused unprecedented damage across Punjab. However, he assured that the government is fully committed to assisting the distressed population in every possible way.

The Chief Minister highlighted that relief and rehabilitation are already underway, but stressed the need to accelerate efforts. He said, “The state government is leaving no stone unturned to provide relief during this crisis. Every department has been directed to work in full coordination.”

Mann also revealed that even during his hospitalisation, he was monitoring flood operations closely. He issued instructions to officials for evacuation, distribution of essential supplies, and on-ground support for marooned families.

Focus Areas of the Meeting

The high-level meeting will prioritise:

  • Medical care for those affected by water-borne diseases.
  • Evacuation efforts to bring stranded people to safer areas.
  • Compensation for families who have lost property or livelihood.
  • Coordination between departments for faster response.

Officials are expected to submit status reports and recommendations for strengthening ongoing relief work.

Statewide Impact of Floods

The floods have disrupted life in several districts of Punjab, damaging crops, infrastructure, and homes. Many families remain displaced, while relief camps have been set up to provide shelter and food.

Mann said the government’s priority is to ensure timely support and rehabilitation so that affected communities can recover quickly. He urged officials to maintain transparency and efficiency while carrying out relief operations.

Public Assurance

The Chief Minister reassured citizens that Punjab’s administration stands united in addressing the crisis. “This is a difficult time, but together, we will overcome it. Every family affected will receive government support,” he said.

With departments mobilised and direct oversight from the CM, the meeting is expected to pave the way for faster rehabilitation measures in flood-hit regions.
