CM Bhagwant Mann invites President Murmu to Punjab’s 350th Shaheedi Purab celebrations of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, highlighting historic and spiritual significance

New Delhi:  On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met with President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi and formally invited her to the state-level event that the Punjab government is hosting to commemorate the 350th Shaheedi Purab (Martyrdom Anniversary) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru.

At 12 p.m., as planned, the meeting was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Invitation to Take Part in the Historic Remembrance

Chief Minister Mann personally presented President Murmu with the formal invitation letter at the meeting, explaining to her the event’s historical and spiritual significance.

According to him, the occasion will be a significant chance to commemorate the unmatched sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who gave his life to defend the freedom of religion and conscience.

The principal festivities in Sri Anandpur Sahib

The chief minister said that Sri Anandpur Sahib, the holy city established by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the son of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, will host the major anniversary events.

The festivities, which will start on November 18 and last through November 25, 2025, will include exhibitions, lectures, kirtan darbars, cultural performances, and spiritual gatherings centered around the life and teachings of the Guru.

Religious Leaders and National Leaders Are Invited

Mann added that a number of prominent figures from all over India had received invitations from the Punjab government to participate in the historic occasion.

In addition to President Murmu, invitations to attend the week-long event have been addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, state chief ministers, and prominent religious leaders from a variety of faiths.

The 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom would be a national event to honor his ultimate sacrifice, the Chief Minister stressed, calling him the real “Chaadar of India”—a saint who embodied humanity, unity, and righteousness.
