Punjab Minister Shri Sanjeev Arora meets NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav to fast-track road projects, improve highway safety, and enhance connectivity.
Earlier this week, Punjab Minister Shri Sanjeev Arora met with NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav to discuss the state’s outstanding issues and assess the status of ongoing infrastructure projects.
The roughly three-kilometer approach road near Adampur Airport needs to be developed immediately, according to Arora, who emphasized this point during the meeting. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) is responsible for this section, so the NHAI must take it up right away to guarantee safe and effective airport access.
A major topic of debate was the Ludhiana-Ropar highway, where the minister called for the project to be re-tendered and hastened in order to finish long-pending work and voiced concern over considerable execution delays.

Additionally, the minister brought attention to the bureaucratic obstacles that the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) parking project faces. Yadav responded by ordering NHLML officials to expedite the granting of relevant approvals so that work could start as soon as possible.
Arora brought up the Ludhiana cycle track, an NHAI experimental project, and demanded stricter oversight and action from the Regional Office (RO) Punjab to guarantee its prompt completion for the benefit of bikers and commuters.
Additional conversations focused on the ongoing issues with fund distribution and portal malfunctions that affect the Delhi-Katra highway. Technical difficulties on the central funds portal were impeding business and causing financial instability, according to Arora. To guarantee a continuous supply of funds, the NHAI chairman directed the RO Punjab to address these issues as soon as possible.
Both sides agreed to expedite action plans to address outstanding concerns and improve traffic management and safety after a thorough evaluation of the Jalandhar-Amritsar highway.
Given that Halwara Airport is set to start commercial operations, Arora emphasized the importance of strong road connectivity in order to meet the demand for travel from the Malwa region. He also brought up the ongoing traffic jams around SPS Hospital and Sherpur, where unfinished construction keeps interfering with regular traffic. Yadav promised that measures would be implemented to alleviate traffic and expedite outstanding projects.
Arora also asked the NHAI to improve routine highway maintenance in Punjab, including prompt surface repairs and street lighting restoration to increase traffic safety at night.
Yadav assured that all of the minister’s concerns would be addressed promptly and directed regional officials to take immediate action to guarantee noticeable advancements on all fronts.
