Supriya Sule and Rohit Pawar meet Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann over wrestler Sikander Shaikh’s Mohali arrest and seek clarity on the case.

Supriya Sule, the NCP-SP Working President, and MLA Rohit Pawar have talked to Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, about the arrest of Sikander Shaikh, a 26-year-old wrestler from Solapur, Maharashtra.

Sule tweeted on X (previously Twitter) on Monday, “MLA Rohit Pawar and I have talked to the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann about the case of Maharashtra Kesari wrestler Sikandar Shaikh.” “The CM has promised to let us know more about the situation by this afternoon. She said, “We are waiting for his answer.”

Last week, Shaikh was caught in Mohali with two men who are thought to be gangsters from Uttar Pradesh. The police said they found five guns, live rounds, cash, and two cars during the investigation. They further said that another alleged criminal from Punjab was arrested in the same case later.

The police say that Shaikh was nabbed at Airport Chowk with two other people from UP while he was supposedly buying guns for a local network.

Pawar, on the other hand, has claimed that he thinks Shaikh has been “framed” in the case. “He has made a name for himself in the world of wrestling. At this point in his career, I don’t think he would switch to crime and stop wrestling. “Maybe some people tried to get him involved in the case because he has made such quick progress in wrestling,” he claimed.

In 2024, Shaikh won the Rustam-e-Hind Kesari title. He also won gold in the National Wrestling Championship for people under 23 in Shirdi. His grandpa and father were also wrestlers.
