MRSAFPI displays INS Kochi replica on Navy Day 2025, inspiring cadets to pursue naval and defense sector ambitions.

At a significant ceremony culminating a tri-service military exhibition, a scaled replica of the Indian Navy’s advanced Kolkata-Class Stealth Guided Missile Destroyer, INS Kochi (D64), was unveiled at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI). The model, showcased by the Indian Navy on Navy Day 2025, was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, AVSM, NM, the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff.

Upon the placement of this vessel model, the MRSAFPI campus now exhibits principal equipment displays from all three branches of the armed forces, thereby cultivating a comprehensive setting to motivate its aspiring cadets. The Institute is distinguished by the service of 22 of its alumni as commissioned officers within the Indian Navy, including two who graduated from the most recent Passing Out Parade at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

In an address to the cadets of MRSAFPI and the student body of Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan underscored the maritime heritage of Punjab, motivating the young people of the landlocked state by referencing prominent figures such as former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh. He elucidated the Indian Navy’s pivotal position in national defense, the protection of maritime interests, and the projection of India’s global influence.

Punjab’s Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Aman Arora, stated that the interaction with Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan and the exposure to actual military apparatus will assist cadets in cultivating crucial skills, including leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. The event would cultivate discipline, patriotism, and a spirit of service within the cadets, thereby equipping them for demanding careers in the defense sector and related fields. The Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, reaffirmed his government’s dedication to assisting the state’s youth in their pursuit of careers in the Armed Forces by providing the requisite resources and opportunities to realize their ambitions.

Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, conveyed sincere appreciation to the Vice Chief of Naval Staff for the gracious contribution. He affirmed the Institute’s dedication to cultivating naval officers for the Indian Navy who would serve with distinction, thereby bringing honor to the nation, the state, and the Indian Navy.
