MP Malwinder Singh Kang held a high-level meet in Ludhiana to boost Punjab’s anti-drug mission, urging public support for a united, drug-free future.

Anandpur Sahib Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang called a high-level meeting with the administration, Village Defence Committees (VDCs), and Ward Defence Committees (WDCs) throughout the district of Ludhiana in an effort to intensify the fight against the drug problem by encouraging greater community involvement.

SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Yudh Nashya Virudh district in-charge Balbir Chaudhary, zonal in-charge Sukhjieet Singh Dhillon, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rakesh Kumar joined MP Kang in highlighting Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s two-pronged strategy: comprehensive rehabilitation for addicts, including job opportunities, skill training, and financial support for self-reliance, and strict police action to break up smuggling networks.

In order to increase public engagement and broaden the anti-drug drive, Kang added that a state-wide mega event for VDCs and WDCs will be held in Sarabha village on November 16, the martyrdom day of liberation hero Kartar Singh Sarabha. He reaffirmed ongoing efforts to safeguard Punjab’s youth through de-addiction centers and awareness campaigns, highlighting the importance of drug eradication in achieving the martyrs’ goal of a thriving Punjab.

The MP urged VDC and WDC members to take coordinated action and actively assist the district administration and police in eliminating the threat. “Only through collective resolve can we secure a drug-free future for our state,” he said.
