The Punjab Government has completed the construction of 892 Modern Anganwadi Centres in Punjab as part of its initiative to strengthen early childhood care, education, and nutrition facilities across the state. Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that the remaining 132 centres out of the targeted 1,024 are in the final stage of construction and will soon be dedicated to children.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Bhagwant Mann-led government is focused on creating safe, child-friendly, and learning-oriented spaces where children can receive quality education and care.
Aim to Provide Private School-Like Learning Environment
The minister said the government has set a target of establishing 1,024 Modern Anganwadi Centres in Punjab to ensure that children from all backgrounds get access to better facilities. She added that no shortage of funds will come in the way of initiatives aimed at securing a brighter future for Punjab’s children.
Highlighting the importance of early childhood development, Dr. Baljit Kaur said every child deserves equal opportunities for quality education, play-based learning, and a healthy environment, regardless of their economic background.

Centres to Support Nutrition, Health and Overall Development
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that these Modern Anganwadi Centres in Punjab are not just infrastructure projects but dedicated spaces where children from rural and underprivileged communities can learn, grow, and develop their skills.

She said the centres will help in tackling malnutrition, improving children’s health, and supporting their physical and cognitive development through better facilities and learning activities.
₹10 Lakh Allocated for Each Centre Under Mission Saksham
According to the minister, each Modern Anganwadi Centres in Punjab is being developed according to prescribed quality standards with a focus on safety, inclusivity, and child-friendly infrastructure.
Under Mission Saksham, ₹10 lakh has been allocated for every centre to provide essential facilities such as proper seating arrangements, safe drinking water, modern sanitation facilities, and interactive learning spaces.
