Punjab Flood Preparedness: The Punjab Government has intensified its flood management efforts ahead of the monsoon season, saying it is fully prepared to deal with any possible flood situation across the state. According to information shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on X, the government has implemented extensive flood control measures to safeguard lives, property, and agricultural land.
₹414.75 Crore Allocated for Flood Control Measures
As part of its Punjab Flood Preparedness strategy, the Mann Government has spent ₹414.75 crore on flood prevention and management works. The investment has been directed toward strengthening the state’s flood protection infrastructure and improving preparedness in vulnerable regions.
The government said these measures are aimed at minimizing the impact of heavy rainfall and ensuring a quick response in the event of rising water levels.
Drains Cleaned and Embankments Strengthened
A key component of Punjab Flood Preparedness has been the large-scale cleaning of drains to improve water flow during the monsoon. In addition, embankments along rivers and other flood-prone areas have been reinforced to reduce the risk of breaches and flooding.

Officials believe these preventive measures will enhance the state’s ability to manage excess water and protect nearby villages and farmland.
24-Hour Monitoring in Sensitive Areas
The government has also launched 24-hour monitoring in flood-sensitive locations as part of its Punjab Flood Preparedness plan. Teams are continuously tracking water levels and weather conditions in vulnerable districts to ensure timely action if required.
