On the final day of filing nomination papers for the 64-Ludhiana West Assembly constituency, eight more candidates submitted their applications, bringing the total number of contestants to 22.
Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C, confirmed the development in a media release, noting that the final-day surge includes candidates from prominent parties as well as independents, underlining the political diversity of the contest.

Among the latest entrants is Jiwan Gupta, the official candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accompanied by Sunita Rani, who submitted her papers as the party’s covering candidate. The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) also joined the fray, with Navneet Kumar filing his nomination.
Five independent candidates also submitted their papers on Monday:

These filings add to the 14 nominations already submitted in earlier days, rounding the total number of contestants to 22.
