The Livasa Hospitals Ludhiana investment will bring a 368-bed multi-speciality tertiary care hospital, strengthening Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure and creating new job opportunities.

Chandigarh : Punjab is steadily strengthening its position as a major healthcare destination in North India. In a significant development, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced that Livasa Hospitals will make a major Livasa Hospitals Ludhiana investment worth ₹360 crore to build a new multi-speciality tertiary care hospital in Ludhiana.

The project marks a major step toward improving healthcare infrastructure in the state while reinforcing the government’s vision of transforming Punjab into a regional medical hub.

368-Bed Hospital Planned in Ludhiana

The Livasa Hospitals Ludhiana investment includes the development of a 368-bed multi-speciality hospital that will be constructed at Sherpur Chowk on the National Highway in Ludhiana. The strategic location is expected to ensure convenient access for patients not only from Ludhiana but also from surrounding districts.

According to officials, the facility is currently under construction and will become operational in phases over the next 18 months.

Speaking about the project, Arora highlighted that the hospital will be built on more than 9,500 square yards of freehold land with a built-up area exceeding 2.3 lakh square feet.

The investment structure includes ₹235 crore from Livasa Group, while the total project value will reach ₹360 crore when landowner contributions are included.

Institutional Support for the Project

The Livasa Hospitals Ludhiana investment is also backed by the India Resurgence Fund, a joint venture between the Piramal Group and Bain Capital’s Special Situations team.

Sanjeev Arora noted that such investments reflect strong institutional confidence in Punjab’s healthcare sector and economic potential.

Livasa Expanding Healthcare Network in Punjab

Livasa Hospitals already operates several healthcare facilities across Punjab, including hospitals in:

  • Mohali (flagship centre)
  • Amritsar
  • Nawanshahr (SBS Nagar)
  • Hoshiarpur
  • Khanna

With the addition of the Ludhiana facility, the hospital group plans to expand its total capacity to nearly 2,000 beds in Punjab, further strengthening advanced medical infrastructure in the region.

CEO Anurag Yadav stated that Livasa Hospitals focuses on technology-driven tertiary and quaternary healthcare services.

  • 800+ beds across facilities

  • 20 modular operation theatres
  • 6 advanced cath labs

The healthcare group also provides several specialised services including:

  • Cardiology and cardiac surgery
  • Oncology and advanced cancer care
  • Neurology and neurosurgery
  • Robotic orthopaedic surgeries and joint replacements
  • Gastroenterology and liver care
  • Kidney transplants and nephrology
  • 24×7 emergency and critical care services

Boost for Healthcare Access and Employment

According to Sanjeev Arora, the Livasa Hospitals Ludhiana investment will significantly improve healthcare access for residents in Punjab.

Patients from Ludhiana and nearby regions will be able to receive advanced tertiary care locally, reducing the need to travel to metro cities such as New Delhi for specialised treatment.

In addition to healthcare benefits, the project will also create hundreds of skilled and semi-skilled employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab in the medical and allied sectors.

Arora emphasised that the state government is committed to developing Punjab into a leading medical hub in North India.
