The 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad sees record participation with 2.25 lakh student registrations, reflecting a global rise in Punjabi language interest.

According to Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, the 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad, which is being organized by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), has seen a tremendous increase in participation, with student registrations surpassing 2,25,916. This is a clear indication of the Punjabi language’s renaissance and widespread acceptance.

According to him, the number this year is a huge increase over the previous two editions, which saw 24,698 and 6,689 registrations, respectively. This indicates a nearly nine-fold increase and a huge surge of youth enthusiasm.

“Seeing over 2.25 lakh students from across the globe connect with their linguistic roots is a dream coming true for our government,” said S. Harjot Singh Bains, who credited the Punjab Government’s coordinated efforts under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for this extraordinary response. Our broad and focused effort to promote the Punjabi language internationally is directly responsible for the tremendous enthusiasm from parents, instructors, and school administration, as well as the overwhelming reaction from kids.”

According to the Education Minister, students from Maharashtra, Haryana, HP, UP, Utrakhand, Jharkhand, and other Indian states participate in the Olympiad, along with those from Norway, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Education Minister stated that in each category (Primary, Middle, and Secondary), the top 10 performers will receive generous rewards of Rs 11,000 (First Prize), Rs 7,100 (Second Prize), and Rs 5,100 (Third Prize), demonstrating the government’s dedication to encouraging talent. The schools that have produced the highest scorers will also receive special recognition and awards, encouraging healthy competition at the institutional level.

The 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad is a celebration of our identity, mother tongue, and tradition rather than just a competition, according to S. Bains. In addition to assessing language proficiency, we are fostering the next generation of Punjabi language and cultural stewards. My warmest regards to each and every participant.

The Olympiad registration procedure ended smoothly on October 31, according to PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh. The PSEB organized a special mock exam window on November 10, 11, and 12 and supplied extensive e-books to guarantee fair competition and acquaint pupils with the format of online assessments. With 1,35,784 pupils actively taking the practice test, this effort saw an extraordinary uptake. Elementary-level pupils will take another round of practice exams on November 15 and 16 as part of an ongoing effort to enhance learning.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to systematically recognize and honor linguistic ability. On December 5 (primary level), December 6 (middle level), and December 8 (secondary level), online assessments for the 3rd International Punjabi Language Olympiad will be administered. The second round is scheduled for December 15–16, and the final matchup is scheduled on December 23, 2025. Using the newest technology, the online examinations would be closely watched to ensure the competition’s integrity, he continued.
