Punjab government to celebrate 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with grand events from Oct 25 to Nov 25, including Nagar Kirtans and cultural programs.
The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will begin a series of events to honor the 350th anniversary of the Ninth Guru’s martyrdom, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The first event will be an Ardas at the Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in New Delhi on October 25.
Today, at Punjab Bhawan New Delhi, Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Tarunpreet Singh Sond, along with Advisor (Tourism & Cultural Affairs) Deepak Bali, told the media that the state government has set the month-long timetable for this historic event. They said that the sequence of events will start on October 25 at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Ministers, and other important people will pay their respects. The Chief Minister will also visit the holy shrines of Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji, who made great sacrifices for the Guru.

A big Kirtan Darbar will take place later in the evening at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib. Many devoted followers are anticipated to attend and show their respect. They added that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji died in Delhi to safeguard human rights and religious freedom, which was a sacrifice that has never been made before in history. The Ninth Guru was a real example of secularism, unity, and international brotherhood. His life and ideas still guide all of humanity today.
From November 1 to 18, there will be Light and Sound Shows in every district of Punjab that show the glorious life and teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Kirtan darbars will also be held in towns and cities where the Guru was present. The main goal of these activities is to teach people about the Guru’s teachings, his life of sacrifice, and the message of peace and humanity that continues to inspire millions of people throughout the world. They announced that a Kirtan Darbar will take place in Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) on November 18.
They further indicated that on November 19, a Nagar Kirtan will start in Srinagar, and hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits will join the group. On November 19, this Nagar Kirtan will stop in Jammu, on November 20, it will stop in Pathankot, and on November 21, it will stop in Hoshiarpur. It will reach Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. On November 20, three Nagar Kirtans will commence at the same time from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur. They would all end at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. They went on to say that the Punjab Government will hold big festivities at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25 to celebrate this important milestone.
Thousands of devotees will be able to stay in a special Tent City called “Chakk Nanaki” that will be set up for the event. There will also be a Sarv-Dharm Sammelan (Interfaith Conference) to show what the Guru meant by harmony and global faith. A special exhibition and a drone show about the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will also take place in the holy city. On November 24, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will hold a special meeting at Sri Anandpur Sahib to honor Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom. Important people will talk about his philosophy, his ultimate sacrifice for human rights, and the need to protect religious freedom.
The festivities will start on October 25 at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and end on November 25 at Sri Anandpur Sahib. On this last day, there will be a countrywide blood donation camp and a big tree-planting event by the Forest Department with the theme “Sarbat da Bhala Ikkatarta” (Unity for the Welfare of All). It was also said that spiritual leaders and saints from all over the world have been asked for their blessings and helpful advice for this holy 350th martyrdom memorial.
They further said that the Punjab Government is very proud to have been given the distinction of planning these historic events during its time in office. They asked Sikhs and followers all over India and the world to take part in these festivities with full religious zeal, excitement, and happiness. They added that 70 lakh kids in Punjab’s government and private schools will learn about Guru Sahib’s life, philosophy, and sacrifice every day as part of their regular schoolwork. They added that important people like the President and Prime Minister of India, the Chief Ministers of multiple states, and the Ambassadors of several countries will be invited to these events.
