Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian meets Israeli envoy Fares Saeb to discuss N-Drip irrigation, seed exports, and sustainable farming tech.

The state administration of Punjab is considering forming a strategic alliance with Israel in order to include advanced agricultural technologies, which might lead to Punjab becoming a multinational seed capital. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for Punjab, and Fares Saeb, the Minister and Deputy Head of Mission for the Israeli Embassy, met at Punjab Bhawan to address this.

Exporting food grain seeds to Israel, academic exchanges between Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and Israeli institutions, trading citrus stocks, and implementing cutting-edge water-management technology are the four main areas of concentration for the partnership, according to Khudian.

The introduction of Israel’s precision ‘N-Drip’ irrigation method, which dramatically lowers energy usage and saves up to 70% of water, was a major focus of the discussions, according to the Punjab Agriculture Minister. The state will also look for ways to follow Israel’s example, which uses 95% of treated wastewater for agricultural purposes, by utilizing Israeli knowledge on how to handle sewage and village pond water for irrigation.

“This tie would be a visionary leap for Punjab’s farming community,” said Khudian. By combining Israeli ingenuity with our agricultural prowess, we hope to protect water supplies, increase farmer income, and establish Punjab as a global leader in sustainable practices and seed production.”

Mr. Fares Saeb acknowledged the strong interest in importing food grain seeds from Punjab while inviting a high-level delegation from the province to strengthen cooperation in water reuse and agricultural research and development. Additionally, he emphasized better connectivity by announcing that a direct route from Delhi to Israel will begin in January 2026, cutting the trip time to roughly six hours.
