Punjab Police ANTF arrests drug smuggler Akashdeep Singh, recovers 5.084 kg heroin, 1.681 kg ICE & ₹6.5 lakh cash under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s drive.

According to DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday, Punjab Police’s ANTF busted a drug trafficking module with the arrest of a drug smuggler and recovered 5.084 kg heroin, 1.681 kg ICE (methamphetamine), and ₹6,50,000 drug money from his possession. This is a significant development in the ongoing effort to make Punjab a drug-free state per Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The ANTF Rupnagar Range carried out the mission.

Akashdeep Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran’s Goindwal Sahib, has been named as the apprehended suspect. Police teams have seized his white Chevrolet Cruze automobile (DL 82 AP 9522), which he was using to transport the drug shipments, and recovered two electronic weighing devices and a leather bag in addition to the contraband and drug money.

According to the DGP, initial investigation has linked the apprehended accused to a major handler who arranges the distribution and delivery of narcotics shipments throughout the Tricity. According to the DGP, more research is being done to identify the forward and backward links in this instance in order to take down the entire network.

According to AIG ANTF Rupnagar Range AS Aulakh, who shared operational details, an ANTF team led by DSP ANTF Yogesh Kumar conducted a raid at an apartment at Nature Hut 3 in Kharar after receiving specific intelligence that the accused and his associates had retrieved a sizable consignment of contraband and were hiding there.

“During the raid, police teams have managed to arrest suspect Akashdeep, while two of his associates managed to flee by jumping from the balcony of the flat into an adjacent empty plot,” stated the officer.The AIG stated that raids are being carried out to apprehend the two fugitive accused individuals and that additional investigation is still underway. He said that there will probably be more recoveries in the days ahead. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 305, dated 24-11-2025, has been filed at Police Station ANTF Mohali under provisions 21-C and 29 of the NDPS Act.
