Punjab sends 50 headmasters to IIM Ahmedabad for week-long leadership training, boosting school management and educational excellence under CM Bhagwant Mann.

The Punjab Government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, sent a fourth group of 50 headmasters to the famed Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad for a specialized leadership training program. This shows how committed they are to providing excellent education.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the 4th batch will go through a tough week-long training program from November 3 to 7, 2025, focused on “Leadership and Mentorship Skills.” The goal is to make them agents of change in their schools.

Bains said that the 5th batch of headmasters will be trained at IIM Ahmedabad from December 15 to 19, 2025. This will keep the momentum going. He also said that this program is a key part of the CM Mann-led Punjab Government’s strategic investment in educational leaders to give them world-class management and mentorship skills to promote excellence at the grassroots level.

The Education Minister also said that the Punjab School Education department has sent 234 principals and education officers to Singapore, 152 headmasters to IIM Ahmedabad, and 144 primary teachers to the University of Turku in Finland to bring the best practices and knowledge from around the world to Punjab’s schools.

Bains said, “Sending our teachers to top schools like IIM Ahmedabad is a smart investment.” We are giving them the tools they need to not just run schools, but also to motivate other teachers, introduce new ideas into the classroom, and, in the end, shape the future of our kids. This is a key part of our government’s promise to make Punjab a modern, knowledge-based place to live.

Anindita Mitra, the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department, echoed same feelings and said that the training program is generating a strong group of visionary educational leaders. This planned improvement of human capital will provide Punjab’s school administrators the tools they need to deal with the problems of 21st-century education, making the future brighter for every student in the state.
