Punjab Police arrested 78 drug smugglers in 244 raids under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, seizing heroin and ICE.

As part of the 251st day of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to end the drug problem in the state, Punjab Police raided 244 locations , arresting 78 drug smugglers after filing 70 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state. This brings the total number of drug smugglers caught in 251 days to 35,641.

During the raids, 2.8 kg of ICE, 388 grams of heroin, 995 psychoactive pills, and Rs 24,550 in drug money were found in the custody of drug smugglers who had been detained. 244 raids have been carried out around the state by more than 100 police teams, which consist of more than 800 police officers, overseen by 55 gazetted officers. Over the course of the daylong operation, police teams have also inspected up to 265 questionable individuals.

To eradicate drugs from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged strategy: Enforcement, Drug Abuse, and Prevention (EDP).  The Punjab Police, as part of “De-addiction,” persuaded 29 people to receive rehabilitation and de-addiction treatment.
