Punjab Cabinet led by CM Bhagwant Mann approves Unified Building Rules 2025, new rehab regulations, and 100 new sports posts across districts.

The Punjab cabinet has approved the Punjab Unified Building Rules, 2025, which would allow the construction of stilt-plus-four stories in all new residential developments in metropolitan areas.

This decision was made at a council of ministers meeting yesterday, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

According to a representative from the Chief Minister’s Office, the purpose of this act is to establish a comprehensive and standard regulatory framework for building and development operations throughout Punjab.

The Cabinet also approved the Punjab Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Counselling and Rehabilitation Centres Rules, 2025, which replace the existing 2011 Rules and First Amendment Rules, 2020, and tighten the regulation of de-addiction and rehabilitation centers throughout Punjab.

These rules address the deficiencies of the 2011 rules and subsequent changes in 2020, regulating 36 government and 177 licensed private de-addiction centers.
The Punjab Sports Medical Cadre would be strengthened by the Cabinet’s decision to fill 100 sports department posts across districts.
