At a Muktsar event, CM Bhagwant Mann accused the Badal family of deceiving Punjabis and unveiled a ₹138-crore water and sewage project under AMRUT 2.0.

At a political event on Sunday in Muktsar, the Badal family ‘s home area, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann charged that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership had deceived its people and made fun of religious establishments.

After the rally, the Center, through the AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) program, laid the groundwork for a ₹138-crore drinking water supply and sewage project. Almost 31,000 families will benefit from the project, which also intends to modernize the town’s outdated water and sewer pipelines and expand services to recently constructed neighborhoods. Mann gave officials a deadline to do the task.

Mann attacked the Badal family, saying: “Muktsar, which is very important to Sikhs, has been denied basic facilities for many years. The Badal leadership never made addressing the scarcity of drinking water and sewage a top priority.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal was also singled out by the CM, who said that he only made a public admission of wrongdoings before the Akal Takht in order to settle long-standing political tensions. Such conduct is tantamount to treachery and derision of the Sikhs’ highest temporal throne. “Backstabbing Punjab and Punjabis for vested political interests is something that history will not overlook,” Mann remarked.

Mann responded to Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the MP for Bathinda, who said that during the Akali-BJP government, people were familiar with “chitta” (heroin). Mann accused Bikram Singh Majithia and other leaders of actively supporting the drug trade. “During the Akali dynasty, terms like “chitta” and “Majithia” were interchangeable. He said that government trucks were used to deliver narcotics.

Mann further claimed that Majithia had profited from solar power transactions by selling the government electricity at ₹15 per unit when cheaper electricity was available at ₹2.50 per unit, resulting in significant losses for the state coffers. Mann remarked, “My government is working to scrap such anti-people contracts.”

While visiting Darbar Sahib in Muktsar, Mann responded to social media teasing over the police officers assigned to protect his shoes by asking, “Do these political opponents have any roadmap for Punjab? They are now having trouble with our shoes and slippers. Our mothers’ and sisters’ clothing has also become problematic. They are now left with these issues.

In Muktsar, a group of attorneys demonstrated against the filing of a formal complaint against advocate Harmandeep Singh Sandhu in front of Government College. Police stopped them as they tried to enter the rally grounds while wearing black ribbons. Gurpreet Singh Thind, an ADC from Muktsar, stepped in to calm the protesters. A land dispute at Jawahrewala village led to Sandhu’s booking in a cross-case.
