In a major boost for government employees, the Punjab Forest Department regularisation drive has brought long-awaited relief to 516 contractual workers, whose services have now been made permanent. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared the development through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that the employees also received their appointment letters.
The Chief Minister said the decision secures the future of workers who had been serving the department on a contractual basis for years. As part of the Punjab Forest Department regularisation initiative, the government also restored 237 employee promotions that had remained pending, offering deserving employees long-awaited career advancement.
50 Crore Saplings to Be Planted Across Punjab
Along with the employment-related announcements, Bhagwant Mann unveiled a major environmental initiative. The Punjab government has set a target of planting 6.5 lakh saplings in every district, with an overall goal of 50 crore saplings across the state.

The plantation campaign will be dedicated to the 650th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji and aims to increase Punjab’s green cover while promoting environmental conservation. The Chief Minister said this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable development alongside the Punjab Forest Department regularisation programme.
Government Highlights Employment and Administrative Reforms
Bhagwant Mann also reiterated his government’s focus on creating secure government employment by abolishing the contractor system in several departments. He stated that more than 68,000 youth have been provided government jobs so far through transparent recruitment.

According to the Chief Minister, the Punjab Forest Department regularisation is another step towards strengthening public institutions, improving employee welfare, and ensuring efficient governance.
