New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Delhi, where both leaders discussed key agricultural issues concerning Punjab, including fertilizer supply, crop diversification, and paddy cultivation reforms.

The meeting focused on resolving long-pending agricultural concerns in the state and ensuring timely support for farmers across Punjab.

Focus on Punjab Agriculture Issues

During the discussions, the leaders emphasized addressing Punjab agriculture issues in a structured and time-bound manner. The Chief Minister highlighted challenges faced by farmers, while the Union Minister assured cooperation from the central government.

It was agreed that Punjab agriculture issues related to input supply, crop planning, and research support would be taken up on priority.

Fertilizer Supply to Remain Uninterrupted

A key outcome of the meeting was the assurance that fertilizer supply in Punjab will continue without disruption. Officials confirmed that steps will be taken to ensure smooth availability of agricultural inputs to farmers during the upcoming cropping season.

The decision is expected to directly address critical Punjab agriculture issues, especially during peak sowing periods.

Committee on Hybrid Paddy Varieties

It was also decided that a dedicated committee will be formed to examine hybrid paddy varieties and related agricultural practices. This committee will evaluate scientific data and suggest suitable recommendations for Punjab’s farming conditions.

This step is part of broader efforts to resolve Punjab agriculture issues through research-based policy decisions.

Agricultural Awareness Drive in Punjab

The Union Agriculture Ministry will also send a delegation to Punjab to create awareness among farmers regarding crop diversification. The initiative aims to encourage farmers to move beyond traditional paddy cultivation and adopt more sustainable cropping patterns.
