In a significant development under Punjab’s ongoing anti-gangster operation “Gangsteran Te War,” the Amritsar Police Commissionerate has busted an arms smuggling network, arresting two individuals and recovering five sophisticated pistols.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav identified the accused as Rohit Arora (25) from Gilwali Gate, Amritsar, and Harpreet Singh, alias Happy (24), from Mirakot Kalan village, Amritsar. Amritsar Police seized three 9mm Glock pistols and two .30 bore pistols from their possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers via social media. Weapons were reportedly sent across the border using drones and distributed locally under the direction of their handlers. The DGP confirmed that investigations are ongoing to map the full network and its linkages.
Amritsar Police Arrest Rohit Arora, Associate of Gangster Sonu Kangla
Amritsar Police CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on credible intelligence, Amritsar Police conducted a coordinated operation to apprehend Rohit Arora, who is reportedly a close associate of gangster Sonu Kangla. During his search, authorities recovered one Glock and two .30 bore pistols.
Following interrogation, Harpreet Singh alias Happy was also arrested, with two additional Glock pistols recovered. Both accused are said to be habitual offenders with multiple prior cases under the Arms Act, Jail Act, and NDPS Act, and were allegedly involved in drug and arms smuggling for financial gain.
An FIR (No. 33 dated 06-02-2026) has been registered at Police Station Gate Hakima, Amritsar under Sections 25, 6, 7, and 8 of the Arms Act. Investigations are ongoing.
