Amritsar Police file FIR against 16 for desecration and disappearance of 328 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Saroops at SGPC publishing house.

In a significant measure aimed at redressing a profound grievance within the Sikh religious community and satisfying a long-standing demand for justice, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against sixteen individuals concerning the disappearance of 328 ‘Saroops’ (holy scriptures) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Regarding this matter, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan stated that the Punjab Government will not condone the desecration of any religion, and our administration will hold accountable any individual who perpetrates such a reprehensible act. Guru Sahib has instructed us to safeguard all religions worldwide, as he stated.

Bhai Baldev Singh Vadala expressed appreciation for the Punjab Government’s action in registering a first information report (FIR) against the individuals responsible for the desecration of 328 copies of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, referred to as “Saroops.” He implored Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan to enact legislation within the Punjab Vidhan Sabha mandating capital punishment for those who perpetrate sacrilege, thereby deterring future offenses and establishing a robust precedent for societal conduct.

The individuals who have been booked are Dr. Roop Singh, Manjit Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Satinder Singh, Nishan Singh, Paramjit Singh, Gurmukh Singh, Jujhar Singh, Baaj Singh, Dalbir Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Satinder Singh, and Amarjit Singh.

An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under sections 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship or sacred object with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 465 (forgery), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Division-C, Amritsar Commissionerate.

Following an extended investigation into instances of neglect and record-keeping irregularities, this development concerns the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan, the publishing house operated by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in Amritsar.
