AAP’s Kuldeep Dhaliwal criticizes BJP for offensive poster of Sikh Gurus during Shaheedi Saptah, urges SGPC and Akal Takht to take action.

Kuldeep Dhaliwal, the chief spokesperson and MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the BJP’s hate of Punjab, Punjabi culture, and its rich legacy has once again surfaced.

Speaking at a press conference  at the party headquarters, Dhaliwal stated that the BJP has repeatedly demonstrated by its acts that it has no regard whatsoever for Punjab.

This time, he claimed, the BJP had gone beyond all bounds of shame. While the entire world is engrossed in the spiritual fervor of Shaheedi Saptah (Martyrdom Week) and honoring the Sahibzadas’ unmatched martyrdom, the BJP has posted a disgraceful poster featuring “cartoons” of Guru Sahiban and the Sahibzadas. It is strictly forbidden in Sikh tradition to depict Gurus in pictures or cartoons.

Dhaliwal went on to say that this heinous act by the BJP has severely damaged the feelings of Sikhs and Punjabis worldwide in addition to violating Sikh principles. Every Punjabi is filled with indignation and indignation once the poster was made public. In order to sabotage Punjab’s peace and harmony, the BJP purposefully started this debate at such a sensitive moment.

Dhaliwal further questioned why Harjinder Singh Dhami, the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), and the group remained silent on this delicate subject. He added it is very regrettable and alarming that the SGPC should have aggressively condemned the BJP’s offensive poster right once, but because of political cooperation, no firm response has been made as of now.

The Aam Aadmi Party vehemently denounces this ignominious and disgraceful BJP action. Dhaliwal called for an immediate and unconditional public apologies from the entire central and state leadership of the BJP to Sikhs worldwide for this act.

Dhaliwal further urged the SGPC and the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to pay close attention to the BJP’s breach of Sikh maryada. In order to ensure that no one tries to tamper with Sikh religious feelings in the future, he demanded that the top Sikh organization take swift, severe religious and legal action against the BJP.
