Several Congress, Akali Dal leaders and former Faujis join AAP in Tarn Taran, boosting Harmeet Singh Sandhu’s campaign ahead of the by-election.
Tarn Taran: In a significant demonstration of support ahead of the Tarn Taran by-election, a number of well-known local officials, including prominent members of the Congress and Akali Dal as well as several former service members, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today and vowed to fully support AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu.
Former Faujis Gurnam Singh, Gurdev Singh, Harjit Singh, and Hardev Singh joined the AAP, along with a number of important members of the Congress and Akali Dal, such as Nishan Singh (Congress MC candidate), Swarn Singh, Malkiet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Ashok Kumar (Congress Pradhan), Satpal Singh, Harpreet Singh Soni (Akali leader), Gurjit Singh (Congress leader), Girdhari, Yodhbir Singh (Congress worker), Raj Kumar (Congress), Sukhraj Singh, Karm Chand (Akali leader), Baldev Singh, Rajinder Singh, Mohan Singh (Mandir Committee Pradhan), Kashmir Kaur (Akali), Rajvinder Kaur (Akali worker), Gurminderjit Kaur (Congress), and Kuldeep Kaur (Congress).
AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat, Chairman Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia, Gurdev Singh Lakhna, and Sur Singh attended the joining ceremony and extended a hearty welcome to the new members of the AAP family.
“The people of Tam Taran have seen the difference between politics of self-interest and politics of service,” Sherry Kalsi stated in her remarks on the occasion. The AAP is working honestly for the people under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and this wave of new members demonstrates the public’s faith in our leadership and mission.”
The new recruits said they were confident that the AAP is the only party in Punjab that truly embodies reform and people-centered politics. In Tarn Taran, their entrance has greatly increased the AAP’s campaign momentum, indicating a serious defeat for the Congress and Akali Dal.
