  • Mosquito Larvae Found in Coolers and Pots

The drive revealed a concerning presence of mosquito larvae in desert coolers, flower pots, and water containers meant for birds, underscoring the urgent need for preventive measures.

“Dengue can become deadly if it turns hemorrhagic, leading to severe complications. However, collective efforts can halt its spread,” said Dr. Balbir Singh.

He called on ministers, LOP, caretakers, and the general public to take responsibility for eliminating mosquito breeding sites and work together to make Punjab dengue-free.

Weekly Inspections & Public Awareness Boosted

The Health Minister issued instructions to intensify awareness drives at all levels—from ASHA workers to senior health officials. He mandated that Health Committees in every village and mohalla carry out home inspections every Friday between 9–10 am to ensure mosquito larvae are destroyed before they mature.

Simple Preventive Steps Advised

Dr. Balbir Singh urged mass public participation to strengthen the impact of the campaign. He advised residents to:

  • Cover all water containers

  • Clean desert coolers weekly

  • Avoid accumulation of stagnant water around homes

These small steps, he said, could lead to big results in the fight against dengue.

Top Health Officials Join the Drive

On the occasion, Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Hitinder Kaur, State Program Officer (NVBDCP) Dr. Arshdeep Kaur, and several other senior health officials were also present, reaffirming the state’s commitment to defeating the mosquito-borne disease.
