Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is setting new benchmarks of development across sectors. Speaking at the inauguration of the Ujjayini Vikram Trade Fair–2026 on Sunday at the Ujjain Engineering College Ground, he said the Vikramotsav and the trade fair are testimony to this progress, boosting revenue for the Municipal Corporation and other local bodies and supporting self-reliance initiatives.
Vikram Trade Fair Boosts Local Economy
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that Avantika, the city of Samrat Vikramaditya, and the spiritual hub of Baba Shri Mahakal are witnessing rapid economic growth. The Vikram Trade Fair, now in its third edition, has significantly contributed to the district’s commerce. In 2024, discounts worth ₹122 crore were offered on 23,705 vehicle sales, and in 2025, discounts of ₹187 crore were provided on 36,225 vehicles, benefiting devotees purchasing vehicles as a symbolic blessing of Baba Shri Mahakal. This year, the Municipal Corporation has already generated ₹4.10 crore from the fair.

The 2026 Vikram Trade Fair features 139 four-wheeler stalls, 36 two-wheeler stalls, and additional stalls for car accessories, Sanchi Parlour products, and other utility items. Banks and trade institutions are also participating. Dr. Yadav emphasized that this is a period of growth across trade, enterprise, and agriculture, and Vikramotsav celebrations with decorative arrangements are being conducted at Baba Shri Mahadev temples statewide.
Devotion and Innovation During Mahashivratri
Referring to Mahashivratri, the Chief Minister noted the overwhelming devotion to Baba Shri Mahakal, highlighting improvements that allow devotees to complete darshan within 30 minutes. For the first time, a Shri Mahakal Van Mela has been organised in Ujjain, featuring forest produce and health consultations by traditional practitioners. Considering the public’s interest, the Van Mela will now be held annually. Dr. Yadav expressed confidence that the 2026 Vikram Trade Fair will surpass all previous revenue records.
Key Dignitaries Present
Mayor Mukesh Tatwal thanked Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for inaugurating the Vikram Trade Fair, acknowledging its revenue contribution to the Municipal Corporation. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister handed over vehicle keys to Shri Lokendra Singh and Shri Jitesh Rathore. Other dignitaries included MP Anil Firojiya, MLA Anil Jain Kalukheda, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Kalavati Yadav, and other prominent citizens.
