CM Dr. Mohan Yadav approves ₹215 crore irrigation projects in Narmadapuram, boosting farmer welfare and tribal development in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh has witnessed substantial development across multiple sectors over the past 11 years. Declaring 2026 as the ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’, the State Government has committed to implementing several farmer-focused initiatives throughout the year, ensuring that irrigation water reaches every farm.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister’s ‘Ken–Betwa River Linking’ Project for Bundelkhand, which, once completed, will provide assured irrigation to farmers across multiple districts. During the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, approval was granted for two irrigation projects in Narmadapuram district, costing ₹215.47 crore, aimed at benefiting farmers and local tribal communities in Sohagpur and Pipariya regions.
Addressing a felicitation ceremony at the Chief Minister’s residence, Dr. Yadav received warm greetings from Sohagpur MLA Shri Vijaypal Singh, party office-bearers, local residents, and tribal families, who expressed gratitude for the developmental initiatives in the region.
Heritage and Development Go Hand in Hand
The Chief Minister noted that Madhya Pradesh’s annual budget has now reached ₹4.21 lakh crore, reflecting the government’s focus on industrial development and its positive impact on local communities. He highlighted the development of the Babai–Mohasa Industrial Area in Narmadapuram, which will create employment opportunities for youth from Sohagpur, Pipariya, and nearby areas.

Dr. Yadav emphasised that the state’s development is being pursued while preserving Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage. Cabinet meetings at locations like Pachmarhi, Indore, Khajuraho, and Gwalior have enabled the government to make key public welfare decisions while honoring local heritage and icons, including Raja Bhabhut Singh in Pachmarhi.
Irrigation Projects to Benefit 63 Villages in Sohagpur
MLA Shri Vijaypal Singh confirmed that under Dr. Yadav’s leadership, every corner of Madhya Pradesh is being equipped with modern irrigation facilities. Two major projects, costing approximately ₹226 crore, were approved for Sohagpur. The Bagra Branch Canal Hoz Irrigation Project of the Tawa Project (Right Bank Canal) will provide irrigation to 4,200 hectares across 33 villages in Babai and Sohagpur tehsils. Similarly, the Pipariya Branch Canal Hoz Irrigation Project will benefit 6,000 hectares in 30 villages of Sohagpur tehsil.
Tribal communities near the Satpura Tiger Reserve will be among the primary beneficiaries, gaining access to both irrigation and clean drinking water.
The felicitation event was attended by Narmadapuram Lok Sabha MP Shri Darshan Singh Choudhary, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Maya Narolia, Shri Rajendra Singh, Shri Mahesh Upadhyay, other public representatives, and numerous local residents.
