MP Cabinet approves ₹922.91 Cr Jhirmiti, ₹1,676.06 Cr Navatha irrigation projects, PMGSY extension, and tribal road schemes to boost development.
Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister, presided over the MP Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at the Mantralaya. The Cabinet approved ₹922.91 crore for the Jhirmiti Medium Irrigation Project in Khaknar tehsil, Burhanpur district. The project will offer irrigation to 17,700 hectares of land in 42 villages in Khaknar tehsil, benefiting around 11,800 farming families.
The Cabinet approved ₹1,676.06 crore for the Navatha Major Irrigation Project in the Nepanagar tehsil of Burhanpur district. The project is expected to supply irrigation to 34,100 hectares of land in 90 villages of Khaknar Tehsil, benefiting roughly 22,600 farming families.
Approval for continuation of the PM Janman Scheme
The Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority’s Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman) initiative would be extended from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2028, with an anticipated investment of ₹795.45 crore, according to Cabinet approval. The scheme will include the construction of 1,039 kilometers of highways and 112 bridges. The initiative will be implemented in 22 districts for three Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (Baiga, Bharia, and Saharia).

Approval for the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
The Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority’s Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) would be extended from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, with an estimated cost of ₹17,196.21 crore, as authorized by the Cabinet. The program calls for the construction of 20,000 kilometers of roads and 1,200 bridges.
Approval for the renovation and upgrading of rural roads.
Approval was granted for the rehabilitation and upgradation of roads developed under PMGSY from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, at an estimated cost of ₹10,196.42 crore. Under this component, 88,517 kilometers of rural roads will be rebuilt and improved.
Approval for financing irrigation projects through Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited
The MP Cabinet approved the finance of irrigation projects under the Narmada Valley Development Authority for expedited implementation through the Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited (NBPCL).
According to the approval, projects launched by the Narmada Valley Development Authority and completed through financial arrangements established by NBPCL will vest full ownership in NBPCL. The corporation will offer the State Government equity in the amount equal to the expenditure incurred through budgetary provisions. Upon completion, the revenue earned by these initiatives will be considered the company’s income.
NBPCL currently finances two projects: Narmada-Kshipra Multi-purpose Project (₹2,489.65 crore) and Badnawar Micro Lift Irrigation Project (₹1,520.92 crore).
During the meeting, Cabinet Members and their secretaries received tablets for the e-Cabinet system. Training was also provided to ensure its successful use.
