MP Cabinet led by CM Mohan Yadav approves ₹1 crore aid and SI post for martyr Ashish Sharma’s family; clears direct election bill for Nagar Palika heads.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav chaired a Cabinet meeting that took place in Mantralaya on Tuesday. The family of Late Inspector (Special Armed Force) Shri Ashish Sharma of Hawkforce Balaghat, who was martyred on November 19, 2025, during a police-Naxal encounter as part of the anti-Naxal campaign, has received Rs 1 crore in financial aid sanctioned by the Cabinet. Additionally, it was decided to give his younger brother, Shri Ankit Sharma, a compassionate appointment to the position of Sub Inspector in the district police department.
It should be mentioned that the late Inspector Shri Ashish Sharma possessed great talent, courage, and ability. The President awarded him the Gallantry Medal twice. He had previously received the Chief Minister’s Internal Service Medal in 2021 and the Difficult Service Medal in 2023. In 2023, he was also given an out-of-turn promotion by the State Government. Vande Mataram was sung when the Cabinet meeting got underway.

Acceptance of the Assembly’s Bill to Elect Nagar Palika and Nagar Parishad Chairpersons

A measure pertaining to holding direct elections by voters for the positions of Chairperson of Nagar Palika and Nagar Parishad was approved by the Cabinet and presented to the Assembly. It is noteworthy that voters held direct elections for these positions in the State between 1999 and 2014. In 2022, elected ward council members held elections for these positions using the indirect system. Voters have continued to choose the mayor using the direct election method.
