A series of important development proposals were approved in the third meeting of the Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA), chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The decisions mark a significant expansion of SMDA development projects aimed at transforming Sonipat into a modern metropolitan hub.
The meeting focused on improving core infrastructure, civic services, and long-term urban planning across the Sonipat metropolitan region.
Roads, Water Supply and Sewerage Expansion
Under the SMDA development projects, several key civic infrastructure works were approved, including road development, drinking water supply improvements, and upgraded sewerage systems.

Officials stated that these initiatives are designed to enhance basic urban amenities and ensure sustainable infrastructure growth in the rapidly expanding region.
Parking, Sports and Tourism Development Included
The SMDA also cleared proposals related to parking facilities, sports infrastructure, religious tourism, and environmental protection projects. Solar energy development initiatives were also included as part of the broader plan.

Approval of Ganaur 4-Lane Bypass
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of a 4-lane bypass for Ganaur. This project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve regional connectivity.
The bypass is a key component of SMDA development projects, aimed at strengthening transport infrastructure and improving travel efficiency in the Sonipat region.
CM Emphasizes Timely Execution
Chief Minister Nayab Saini directed officials to complete all approved works within the stipulated timelines. He stressed that planning should focus on future urban needs and population growth.
He further emphasized that SMDA development projects must be implemented efficiently to ensure timely benefits for citizens.
