Ahead of the monsoon season, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has given officials stringent directives to prevent possible flooding and waterlogging throughout the state. The Chief Minister approved 388 flood control plans totaling Rs 637.25 crore today while presiding over the 57th meeting of the Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board. According to the chief minister, the state experienced severe flooding and waterlogging in 2023 and 2025. He emphasized the necessity of creating a concrete flood management plan right away, using lessons from prior experiences. Given that there is still enough time before the monsoon season, he instructed Deputy Commissioners to start the necessary corrective action in the identified problem locations as soon as possible.
River embankments will be reinforced, and UP model stone studs will be built.
In order to strengthen embankments and stop soil erosion along the Uttar Pradesh border, the Chief Minister ordered that sturdy stone studs be built along riverbanks. To significantly improve flood protection efforts, he ordered that new technology be used in all stone studs constructed this year. Additionally, he directed that gravel-filled sandbags be stored for quick deployment in locations susceptible to erosion from high water flow. The Chief Minister also went over how the department has been doing with stone stud building over the last ten years.

Under no circumstances may untreated wastewater enter the Yamuna.
The Chief Minister gave the order to outright forbid the dumping of sewage and contaminated water into the Yamuna River from drains. He said that only after appropriate treatment can water from any drain be discharged into the Yamuna. To guarantee that untreated water does not enter the river, all outfall locations should be identified, and the construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) and common effluent treatment plants (CETPs) should be accelerated. Additionally, he directed that improvements to the Bhiwani-Ghaggar drain’s capacity be carried out as soon as possible.
The flood relief plans that have not been finished within the allotted time were thoroughly examined by the chief minister. He gave staff instructions to finish these schemes as soon as possible and make sure that by the end of January, bids for all approved schemes are released. He also mentioned that there would be a review meeting soon to discuss the status of these projects.
Saini also encouraged interdepartmental cooperation to create plans for delivering treated water to fields and instructed authorities to investigate potential uses for treated water in agriculture. According to him, it is the duty of all relevant departments to reuse treated water, whether it be for industrial or agricultural uses.
