Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini directs detailed Village Development Plans under Mahagram Mahayojana for 21 villages with modern urban facilities.
Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has instructed officials to assess the current conditions of villages selected under the Mahagram Mahayojana and prepare detailed Village Development Plans aimed at providing modern, urban-like facilities in rural areas. He emphasized that panchayat land should be identified and plans should be developed in consultation with the Gram Sabha and local residents to address both current and future needs of the villages.
The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting of the Mahagram Mahayojana at Haryana Niwas . Officials presented Village Development Plans for five Mahagrams — Kohand (Karnal), Sondhad (Palwal), Deeghot (Palwal), Aurangabad (Palwal), and Khanpur Kalan (Sonipat).
Sh. Saini directed that detailed, sector-wise planning should be undertaken for all proposed land uses in the Village Development Plans. He stressed that while planning, the cultural heritage, traditional character, and local identity of each village must be preserved and promoted.

The Chief Minister further instructed that the planning process should leverage modern technology, including drone surveys, to ensure accuracy and effective implementation.
Under the Mahagram Mahayojana, urban-level infrastructure such as roads, water supply, sewerage systems, green spaces, and other civic amenities will be developed in 21 selected Mahagrams across Haryana, significantly enhancing the quality of life in rural areas.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Chief Principal Secretary Sh. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary (Town and Country Planning) Sh. A.K. Singh, Principal Secretary to the CM Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Commissioner and Secretary Public Health Engineering Sh. Mohammed Shayin, Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Saket Kumar, and Director Town and Country Planning Sh. Amit Khatri.
