The Haryana pre-monsoon preparations have been intensified as the state government takes proactive steps to ensure urban areas are ready for the upcoming monsoon season. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has directed IAS and HCS officers across the state to conduct physical inspections of urban drains and assess the quality of pre-monsoon de-silting (silt removal) works.

The move aims to ensure that drainage systems function efficiently during heavy rainfall and help prevent waterlogging in cities and towns.

IAS and HCS Officers Asked to Conduct Field Inspections

During a review of the state’s Haryana pre-monsoon preparations, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi instructed senior officers to visit urban local bodies and inspect drains on the ground. The officers have been asked to verify whether de-silting work has been carried out as per prescribed quality standards and to identify any shortcomings that require immediate attention.

The emphasis on physical verification is expected to improve transparency and ensure that the work is completed effectively before the onset of the monsoon.

Focus on Quality De-Silting and Drainage Maintenance

A key objective of the Haryana pre-monsoon preparations is to ensure that all urban drains are free from silt and other obstructions. Proper de-silting helps improve the flow of rainwater, reducing the chances of flooding and waterlogging during periods of intense rainfall.

The government has also directed officials to maintain strict oversight of the work and ensure timely completion across all urban local bodies.

Monitoring and Accountability Further Strengthened

To make the Haryana pre-monsoon preparations more effective, the state government has strengthened monitoring and accountability mechanisms. Senior officers will regularly review the progress of de-silting operations and submit reports after conducting field inspections.
