Driving Training and Vehicle Testing Made Modern with Haryana Institute of Driving Training and Research in Ambala Cantonment

Thanks to the efforts of Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij, the Haryana Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) will soon be established in Shahpur village of Ambala Cantonment. Alongside this, an Automated Vehicle Testing Station (ATS) will also be set up in the same area to ensure better vehicle inspection facilities.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the projects, which will be built on 13 acres, 5 kanal, and 4 marla of land. The total estimated expenditure for these initiatives is approximately ₹11.65 crore.

Employment and Skill Development Opportunities

The Haryana Institute of Driving Training and Research is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for hundreds of people. Transport Minister Anil Vij said that thousands of youth from nearby districts will be trained and developed into highly skilled professionals through this institute.
The Automated Vehicle Testing Station will enhance road safety and vehicle compliance, with an estimated 300 vehicles per week expected to undergo fitness inspections.

Modernizing Transport Services in Haryana

Minister Vij emphasized that these projects are part of the government’s vision to make transport services more efficient and convenient in Haryana. By establishing the Haryana Institute of Driving Training and Research and the ATS, the state is taking a significant step toward modern, technology-driven public transport solutions.
Recently, Vij also instructed officials to implement bus tracking systems in state transport buses and install digital boards at bus stands to display real-time arrival and departure information, ensuring a smoother experience for commuters. Work on these measures is already underway.
