Vadiya farmers escalate 117-day protest in Kutch as AAP leaders join, demanding action from authorities on unresolved local agricultural issues.
Kutch, Gujarat: After 117 days of peaceful protest, farmers from Vadiya village in Gujarat’s Kutch district intensified their agitation on Friday by taking to the streets, as their demands remain unresolved.
The prolonged protest, which began as a peaceful sit-in, escalated following what farmers described as continued inaction by the authorities. Protesters said repeated appeals to the administration have failed to yield concrete assurances, forcing them to widen their movement.
Extending support to the protesting farmers, several leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reached the protest site. Among those present were AAP state organisation minister and Kutch zone in-charge Sanjay Patel, former Kutch district president Dr Kainat Ansari, and former Kutch Kisan Cell president Dahyabhai Ahir, along with other party officials.

According to AAP Gujarat, party leaders expressed solidarity with the farmers and reiterated their commitment to raising the issue at appropriate platforms. They also interacted with farmers to understand their concerns and assured them of continued support until their demands are addressed.
Farmers participating in the protest maintained that their agitation has remained peaceful despite the extended duration. They said the decision to take the protest to the streets was not made lightly but became necessary after months of waiting for a response from the authorities.
So far, there has been no official response from the district administration regarding the renewed phase of the protest. The situation in the area remained calm, with no reports of untoward incidents at the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid growing farmer-led movements across various parts of Gujarat, highlighting persistent concerns related to land, agriculture, and local governance.
