AAP MLA Chatar Vasava joins Nitrex Chemical workers’ protest in Gujarat over denied PF, gratuity, and legal benefits; dharna enters 2nd day.
Ahmedabad/ Bharuch/ Narmada/ Vadodara, Gujarat – AAP MLA Chatar Vasava has been on a 24-hour dharna with workers of Nitrex Chemical India Ltd at Jhagadia GIDC, demanding their legal rights and pending benefits. The protest entered its second day on Monday, with several political leaders joining to show solidarity with the employees.
Speaking to the media, MLA Vasava said, “We have been sitting on a dharna for the past 24 hours supporting the demands of the employees here. These demands are simple and lawful. Workers are entitled to benefits under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, Factories Act, 1948, Employee Insurance Act, 1948, Employee Provident Fund Act, 1952, and the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. Unfortunately, these legal rights have been denied.”

He added that workers employed since 2011 have not received proper payslips, PF contributions, medical claims, or overtime payments at double rates, which are legally mandated. “Several benefits that should have been provided were not. Our key demands include making employees with more than three years of service permanent, providing gratuity, and ensuring proper increments. If the company refuses to meet these demands, our indefinite dharna will continue,” Vasava warned.
This protest highlights ongoing labor rights issues in Gujarat’s industrial sector and signals increasing political intervention in worker welfare.
